Hickory Crawdads Baseball

The Hickory Crawdads swept the Charleston RiverDogs in Tuesday’s double-header by scores of 5-2 and 4-3, with the second game going an extra inning.  Tonight’s wins give the Crawdads a 5-game lead over the second place tie in the Northern Division of the South Atlantic League between Lakewood and Lake County.  Tonight’s losses for [...]

I have completed the design on the 2007 Hickory Crawdads Poster.  This poster print contains every player who has played in Hickory during the 2007 season prior to July 29, 2007.  I have made this print available in 16″ x 24″ ($39.95) and 20″ x 30″ ($49.95) sizes.  This poster is not a standard [...]

The Hickory Crawdads dropped their second straight game to the Lake County Captains tonight to split the 4-game series, leaving the Crawdads in first place of the Northern Division of the South Atlantic League with a 3-game lead over Lake County and Lakewood who are tied in second place.  The Crawdads have an off [...]

After two fairly lackluster nights for the Crawdads, the day off comes at a good time.  And unlike a lot of the teams in the SAL League who will travel on Sunday as the Southern teams face the northern teams, Hickory will kick their feet up on Sunday before traveling by bus to Charleston on [...]

Of course it had to end sometime.  At least it was a blowout, and not a loss you worry about carrying over to the day (i.e. last at bat loss).
Crawdads starter Bradley Clapp did not have good location all night, walking four in four innings and giving up six hits.  But the game had its [...]

Someone should tell Negrych his fly is open…

The Hickory Crawdads 10-game win streak ended tonight when the ‘Dads suffered an 11-3 spanking by the Lake County Captains.  After winning 10 in a row, who can really complain though?  I certainly can’t.  I have had a great time watching the ‘Dads win night after night.  [...]

Not much to add to John’s musings about last night’s game.  The game was over pretty early as the offense hit Captains starter Paolo Espino early and often.
I do want to say a word about the first inning at bat by Jonel Pacheco against Espino.  In the game log it will simply say Jonel Pacheco walked.  But [...]

Good times in Hickory continue to flow as the Hickory Crawdads grasp their 10th consecutive win tonight with an 8-0 shutout of the Lake County Captains.  Tonight’s victory pushes the Lake County Captains 5-games out of the lead and into third place in the Northern Division of the South Atlantic League.  The Lakewood BlueClaws [...]

In yesterday afternoon’s post, we were trying to make some assumptions about some changes we have seen in management during the second half of this season.  We were speculating that Gary Green’s objectives have changed due to some more frequent player substitutions and tighter control of what’s happening on the pitcher’s mound during games.  [...]

Good ball game Wednesday night, as we got the game in under threatening skies.  We had pretty much conceded at 5:30 that Thursday would be a DH, as it was very dark and rain all around.  But, like much of the storms this year, the rain went north, and so there was baseball.
A couple of thoughts [...]
